This is such a sad story. Just imagine for a minute that this was you. That you were trying to explain to a police officer that your mother was dying while he detained you for 13 minutes in the hospital parking lot for running a red light. While he lectured you and flexed his muscles….listing all the ways he could make your life difficult. “I can tow your car….I can arrest you. I can really screw you over. The law gives me that power.” While your mother-in-law is dying. The officer ignores the pleadings of two nurses who tell him that she has coded three times and if you don’t get up there right away, you won’t be able to say goodbye. Just imagine that this is you.

At least the department is reacting appropriately. Too bad we can’t say the same for the officer who still feels that he was just ‘doing his job’.
